Christian Bautista and Kat Ramnani

'Noong una, noong nagde-date kami, hindi niya alam na singer ako.' - Christian Bautista

Despite Christian Bautista starting his career in 2003, his wife Kat Ramnani did not know that he's actually a famous singer when they met in 2015.

In an interview on the Updated with Nelson Canlas podcast, Christian recalled that it was actually her friends who told Kat that he's a celebrity.

Kat finished college in the United States and was working there before they met. According to Kat, her friends noticed how happy she was and admitted that she was dating a singer.

He recalled Kat telling about him to her friends, “Singer, I think bago lang siya. Kasi kumakain kami sa mga tagong lugar, ganyan, sa mga ano, hindi masyadong sikat.”

Finally, when they asked to see his picture, they revealed that Christian is actually popular and asked her to Google him. After she did, he recalled that she texted to him, “So you're ano pala ah.. you're kind of a thing.”

The Asia's Romantic Balladeer admitted that he did not try to be “pasikat” when he and Kat started dating.

“Parang pinapakita ko rin sa kanya na 'Uy teka, hindi ako sossy socialite na gusto ng fancy things. Ano ako, I'm from Imus, Cavite, probinsyano at simple lang,'” he said.

He added, “Na-appreciate kong hindi naman siya nagrereklamo. Kahit sira [ang] kotse, okay. Gusto ko rin makilala agad kung sino siya talaga. Kaya nagwork I guess.”

Christian married Kat on November 17, 2018 in Bali, Indonesia. He loves to sing to his wife so he was the one who sang on their wedding day.

“Kinover ko yong Eraserheads song na 'Ligaya.' 'Yun 'yung bridal march niya, and kasi we just bring joy to each other's lives,” he said.

The The Clash judge added that despite slowing the song down using cello and guitar, guests were still surprised with the song they chose.

Explaining their song choice, Christian said, “Kasi nung nag-gig ako, nanood siya at I think kinanta ko yata 'yung kantang 'yun at nag-stick sa amin.”

Despite being married for four years already, both Kat and Christian said that they are not pressured into having kids as it will happen “when the right time comes.”
